Global Address List is not updating in Exchange 2010
Hi Guys, I have an exchange 2010 setup. I am adding new mailboxes in server but it is not updating in Global Address List. I manually update push the Offline GAL in Server end. But all clients are not receiving any of the update. How to troubleshoot this issue step by step.? Thanks...Chandru CT.

first of all, are you using outlook 2003 clients , they use the public folders to get the OAB and can not work with the 2010 web based distribution, you have to enable the publicfolder distribution and make sure the public folder is mounted. If you are using 2007 or higher clients make sure you use webbased distribution and that your clients can reach the web service url. if you have further problems please enable protocal logs under the exchange AL en post the errors you get from the application log. we need more information to trouble shoot this,

If it doesn't update, start verbose logging for MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator and try to update again and check your event viewer for errors Jonas Andersson | Microsoft Community Contributor Award 2011 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog | Follow me on twitter: jonand82

Hi.. My GAL is updating properly. But it takes long time to push to clients. I understand the option we can push the offline GAL from mailbox in organization configuration. however it is not reflecting immediately to clients when i push it manually. and i understand even we push offline GAL in mailbox server, the clients can download the GAL from Client access server only through Virtual directories... any option available for CAS to get offline GAL immediately from mailbox server? How long is long time for you? How often are you updating the GAL? What connection do you have between the Exchange servers and the clients?Jonas Andersson | Microsoft Community Contributor Award 2011 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog | Follow me on twitter: jonand82
