Getting Outlook to embed

Does anyone know how to get Outlook to embed in a program in the same way as Word, Powerpoint and Excel do? For them you just need to set the BrowserFlags for the doc type, but this doesn't seem to work for Outlook. So I'm interested in .msg files specifically and definitely not interested in any conversions.

Quite clearly the same considerations ought to apply to all the Office apps - but perhaps the Office teams don't coord

I mean, it's only a question of presentation because the Outlook app is still handling the data. But it means the user has disconnected windows showing metadata in one and the document in another.

Are there any excuses left?

Hi,

I'd like to know some details about your scenario, if possible I want to reproduce it on my side.

What is your Office version and architecture? Also Windows verion?

What application(or service) are you trying to open the .msg files from?

I'm looking forward to your response.

We have our own applications which open Office documents. We use all versions of Office and Windows. Only one of the main Office apps doesn't use BrowserFlags settings to decide whether to embed in the app or not. It has always been that way.

Hi,

I have searched "BrowserFlags" with "Outlook", nothing has been found that states Outlook uses BrowserFlags or not. Either I don't have the environment to test here.

However, all information about BrowserFlags I can find is associated with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, which makes me believe probably it is by design. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are the most used documents, while .msg is actually not.

I've submitted this quest via my channel, please be assured that any improvements in the product are based on users' requirements.
