Gateway - Tools for exchange servers
Hi Team For my testing environment, i would like to introduce one gateway server for both the two different exchnage 2007 organization. Currently the email flow between the exchange server 2007 servers are fine. my intention is to put one gateway server in between them, Assume two exchange organization , abc.com and xyz.co.in . whenevenr emails goes to xyz.co.in from abc.com , i has to hit gateway server of abc.com , then it reach to xyz.com and vice versa. it is simillar to message labs in the real time. i am bit understand, it required internet , but as it is for my testing lab, there is no internet connection. i am searching any free tool or evaluation like message labs... The intention of putting the gateway is test email flow , to learn the spam blocking , content control, Email Blocking ...etc...... Correct me if am wrong !!! and please suggest for my query

Internet is not required, acctually you will need 4 machines in your test env. Edge server (gateway) and Exchange with all other roles for abc.com and Edge server (gateway) and Exchange with all other roles for xyz.com. You can setup Exchange as your Edge serverWith kind regards Krystian Zieja http://www.projectnenvision.com Follow me on twitter My Blog

Hello Krstain, Thanks for your update.. You mean ET will act as a Gateway Right...... the probabaly in my abc.com ,currenlty am having all the three roles in one box(MBX, HT, CAS). so i need to additional one role for ET on anc.com and Same like for my xyz.co.in... Correct me if am wrong, so if i put the ET server in my existing test environment for both organization, should i modify the configuration settings for email flow between the two organization?

I do not know your test enviroment, but if you are simulating "real world" so you have two distinct AD one for abc.com another for xyz.com and you would place Edge Transport - one for each company, you will only need to modify dns setings and ensure network connectivity between two Edge Transport serversWith kind regards Krystian Zieja http://www.projectnenvision.com Follow me on twitter My Blog

Hi Krystian, Here is my test Environment Two Forest A (org1) and Forest B (Org2) 1. Created the trust between two org(Org1 and Org2) 2. Created the Secondary DNS zone in each ORG DNS. 3. Created the MX records in ORG 1 pointed to the ORG2 HUB server and Vice Versa. 4 Send the email from Org1 to org2. Mail has been struck in the queue saying that, there is no Primary Connector found to send the domain(xyz.com) 5. Created a send Connector to Internal and added the * then added the smart host as org2.hubserver Queue has been cleared but got the NDR saying that, the Client has been rejected. 6. Point to org2 Hub Transport server receieve connector and tick the ANONYMOUS users in the authentication tab. EMAIL got delivered to ORG2. 7. Created the Send Connector from ORG2 like ORG1 and did the same in the receive connector in ORG1. HT server playing a important role here, so when i place a new ET server role in the above test lab should i modify the configuration settings for email flow between the two organization in ET servers?

How did you create the lab, by using physical hosts or virtualization solution? If it’s virtual machine, which product do you use, VMware or Hyper-V? If you are using Hyper-V, please refer the suggestion in this thread to verify your configuration If you are using VMware, please use the VMware community to verify the configuration of the gatewayPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Regarding your implementation plan: 3. Created the MX records in ORG 1 pointed to the ORG2 HUB server and Vice Versa. I think it would be easier to test the setup if you install two Edge Transports (one per organization) and set MX to point there (to Edge Transport). That way trust between ADs is not required. I would start from thisWith kind regards Krystian Zieja http://www.projectnenvision.com Follow me on twitter My Blog
