GAL Name recognition - picking up contacts

I am running Exchange 2010 SP3 Ent. with the UM role.

We have automated attendants with speech recognition. It seems that when calling into the AA and saying the name of a user, the system seems to be picking up contacts as well.

The UM dial plan is set to pick up GAL users only and the contacts arent in the GAL. The AA is also set to "Callers can contact anyone in the default global address list"

Is there a setting I am missing in which the contacts are being picked up?

My thought would be, that if user John Smith is a contact and I tell that name to the AA, it shouldnt be recognized.

Hi Adam

Probably you can create a custom address list for the UM auto attendant and allow callers to send voice messages  only to this custom address list. You add only the users who require UM enabled on this custom address list.

Make sure you create the custom address list only with the mailbox as below example

new-addresslist -name TestforUM  -IncludedRecipients MailboxUsers

Later run the below command and scope the UMautoattendant only for this addresslist.

Set-UMAutoAttendant -Identity MyUMAutoAttendant -ContactScope CustomAddressList

By this way you can exclude the contacts.
