Full Access Permissions - A quick question...
Hi, In "Recipient Configuration" if I give a user "Full Access Permissions" on a mailbox do I still need to give them "Send As" permission as well or does giving them "Full Access Permission" allow them to do everything? At first I gave a user "Send As" permission but you could still see the name of the actual mailbox owner when emails were sent e.g. "Sent on behalf of John Smith" so I changed it to "Full Access Permissions" and now the email looks like it is really from the second person (which is what we wanted). I'm just curious if I could have just given the user "Full Access Permission" in the first place so they could do everything? Hope I've explained that okay. Any advice or tips really appreciated.

From Exchange 2003 SP2 and an update which I can't remember (plus all subsequent versions), Full Access does NOT give you Send As permission as well. You need both. As you haven't stated which version, that is the best I can do. Send on Behalf of means that you have set that permission on the account, which is something different. Send As and Send on Behalf of are NOT the same. So, you grant permissions to the mailbox data and permissions to send as the user seperately. Hi Essooil, Based on your description, I would like suggest you clear the all kinds of permission and the differences between Send As and Send on behalf. Send on Behalf Permission and Send As permission are all granting Send on Behalf permission to other recipients allow those recipients to send e-mail messages on behalf of a mailbox user. Specifically, recipients who are granted this permission can enter the mailbox user's name in the From field for the messages that they send. There are two differences between the Send As permission and the Send on Behalf permission: · With the Send As permission, the recipients of a message cannot identify whether the messages was sent by the actual or another user that has been granted the Send As the Send As permission. · Unlike the Send on Behalf permission, end users cannot grant the Send As permission right by using Outlook. Full Access Permission: granting this permission to a user for a mailbox allows that user to log on to the mailbox and gain access to the contents of the entire mailbox. Users with the Full Access Permission to a mailbox cannot send messages as that mailbox. Here is a reference for you.
