Fresh Ex10 install - Administrator mailbox corrupt - Unable to recreate
Dear All, after a torturous Ex10 SP1 (UR3) installation, The administrator mailbox properties would complain as having "Invalid data..". Upon restart the Administrator account has disappeared and I cannot recreate it from the EMC. When I try to create New mailbox through the GUI... the account does not appear in the "Existing users\Add" list. will be grateful if you can advise. Regards, BinaBina Hejazi

Thanx Bpara, done all the updates and the AV scan. some .NET updates. I still cannot add the administrator account to create amailbox for. however I have created an ExAdmin account and have added it to all the Exchange securioty groups. I use this accoiht to login to the server and run EMC etc. I don't seem to have any issues with this account but am worries that whatever the issues with the Enterprise Administrator account may potentially have some detremental impact in the future. Generally speaking it's not a good idea to have a mbx associated with an admin account. The admin account probably still has exch attributes associated with it which you may have to remove using disable-mailbox. It could also be that the mailbox has been disconnected so you may have to connect it again, Check disconnected mailboxes and run clean-mailboxdatabase. Sukh

By any chance if you have installed Exchange 2010 in existing E2K3/E2K7 environment then the administrator account will already have the mailbox hence when try to create mailbox you won’t see the administrator account in Existing users Add list. For that matter you won’t see any users which already has mailbox. 1. Since you’re not able to see Administrators mailbox in EMC. You can try from EMS running Get-Mailbox –Identity <AdministratorsAlias> | fl and see if you have exchange attributes for administrator account such as ProxyAddress, homeMDB, mail, mailNickname etc.. 2. You need to run disable-Mailbox -Identity < AdministratorsAlias> 3. Then run Clean-MailboxDatabase <MailboxDBName> 4. Now try to enable or create mailbox for administrator account you will be able to see the administrator account in Existing users Add list In case if step 1 does not list Administrator properties you need to use Adsiedit.
