Free Busy not working with outlook 2013 and Exchange 2007

Hi,

Environment:

Exchange 2007 backend

Windows 7 with Outlook 2013 not joined to domain (standalone)

I verified KB2837643 and KB2837618 are not installed on the client, when trying to pull another users free/busy, it says "No Connection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Have you checked if the client is allowed to access the free/busy data of another users?

Can the client see other user's free/busy information from OWA?

How did you check the free/busy information of other users? Did you just try to open the user's calendar? Based on my research, the ""No Connection" error happens when you try to open another user's calendar but you don't have enough permission to access the calendar. Allowing free/busy doesn't allow the opening of the calendar. It allows only access to the free-busy data. If this is the case, we can try to create a new meeting and add one user as an attendee and then check if you can see the free/busy information from the meeting Scheduling Assistant.

Please let me know the result.

Hi,

As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the issue of free busy, please follow these steps: -

The main reason is KB2837643 and KB2837618, I found that both updates must be uninstalled, if you have a one or the other installed, you will have intermittent access to those resources, and if you have both installed, it wont work at all. In additions both updates cause a profile corruption, requiring the Microsoft Outlook 2013 profile to be recreated.

I hope this information will be helpful for you.

Thanks and regards

Hi Steve,

We're not trying to open a users calendar but trying to look at free busy data for scheduling. When the user logs onto OWA, they add an individual, free busy scheduling is not displaying. My outlook 2013 is joined to the domain, and my free busy is working. When I logon to OWA, add a user to a calendar invite, free busy is not displaying in OWA. I verified all the exchange 2007 web services and don't see any issues.

Here's scenario:

User 1 - Outlook 2013 workstation not joined to domain, free busy in outlook 2013 not displaying (receives no connection), OWA free busy not displaying, verified patches KB2837643 and KB2837618 not installed. This is a replacement PC but previous setup with same settings worked.

User 2 (Me) - Outlook 2013 workstation joined to domain, free busy in outlook 2013 is working and displaying schedules. OWA free busy not displaying. Patches KB2837643 and KB2837618 not installed,

Thank you for the update, Kenny. I found the following article which explained "Issues With Accessing Free/Busy Data From a Non-Domain Workstation" in detail, please have a look at it and check if it applies:

https://sites.utexas.edu/glenmark/2009/10/23/issues-with-accessing-freebusy-data-from-a-non-domain-workstation/

"The problem is rooted in how the client software goes about determining where to find the Availability Service.  The Availability Service is web-based, and the client needs to know what URL to connect to in order to swap the relevant SOAP/XML requests. To find this, the client must first determine the SOAP/XML URL for the AutoDiscover service.  Once that is found, the AutoDiscover Service can be queried to determine the Availability Service URL."
