Forwarding options in AD and Outlook
There seems to be a difference in the way outlook rules forward with the redirect option as opposed to the way the AD property "Delivery Options\Forward to:" works. With the AD option the recipient address is the account that the message was sent too. With redirect in outlook the recipient field is the person who was forwarded too. Does anyone know why there is a difference or anyway to change this behaviour. I need the power of rules, but would like the origional recipient in the to: field. Exchange 2003 - Outlook 2007.

It is down to the way that the forward occurs. A forward in AD occurs during the transport delivery phase and doesn't require the message being recreated. A forward on a rule takes place after the email has been delivered, and depending on what rules you are using, can require Outlook to be open. You cannot achieve the forwarding that Exchange does with rules. Furthermore, the kind of forwarding done by Exchange at AD level is actually becoming unreliable, as it is seen by many other servers as spoofing and is not something that can be depended on.
