Forwarding of a public folder doesn't process moved (drag&drop) messages
Hi,using Exchange 2007 and public folders. Thepublic folders are configured to forward all receiving emails to another server - this works, but not for mails which are moved from e.g. the Outlook inbox directly to the public folder.Moved means with drag and drop.If I send a mail directly to the public folder, the forwarding works as expected. If I move a mail to the public folder, nothing was forwarded - this seems to be by design; any suggestions to solve this (drag and drop mails into the public folder and then this mail should be forwarded).Thx & Regards,Rainer

Yes, I can reproduce this behavior in my lab as well (Exchange 2007 SP1) Heres a workaround which can make drag/drop mails in the public folder to be forwarded: Set Drag/Drop posting is a as Forward a. Go to the Properties of public folder b. In the Administration tab, change Drag/Drop posting is a option from Move/Copy to Forward Notes: Please see Owners Can't Post to Public Folders section in this article at first if you want to use this workaround

Hi James-Luo,thanks for your reply.I setup your suggestion, but this does not work.First I change the "Drag/Drop posting is a" from move/copy to Forward. Then I setup the Send on behalf to my user account (and to my admin account = the owner). Then I move (drag&drop) mails from my mailbox to the public folder - the sender name and the send date of the moved mail changes to me and the move time. But,the mail was not forwarded as expected (to the configured forwarding address). If I send a mail directly to this public folder, the forwarding works (to a SharePoint server). To clearify: I would like to drag mails into the public folder and these mails should be forwarded to a Sharepoint server. I would like to prefer that the moved mails appear with the original sender and orginal send date - like using the move/copy "Drag/Drop posting is a" configuration. But this orginalmail should (after moved to the public folder) be forwarded to another server (therefore we use emailenabled contacts as forwarding address).Any ideas? Thanks & regards,Rainer

I assume that you set the forward on the public folder via Public Folder Management Console, it wont work for directly moved messages (I can reproduced it as well), please try to use the Folder Assistant button in the Properties of the public folder to forward the messages Just add a rule which only checks Forward checkbox and select that Mail-enabled contact to the To field. Then, test againPer my knowledge, theres no method that can accomplish your demand in the exchange 2007 natively

yes, with the Folder Assistant it works. After create a "Remote Domain" in Exchange 2007 and activate the "Allow automatic forward" this also works for the external forwarding address. But now we are looking to setup these folder assistant rules by script (e.g. powershell) - is there a way to create these rules with PowerShell or VBS?Regards,Rainer

Per my knowledge, such rule cant be set via Powershell If youd like to create the script for it, please use Development forum which will be the best place for programming
