Finding out email volume - Exch 2003
Hi All
Does anyone know of an easy way to find out the volume of email our exchange server does per day / month?
We have SCOM in place and ive looked at the counters but nothing jumped out as showing me for example, "last week you did 7 gb of email"
Anyone done this before?

Hi ,
Not natively in exchange server. But there are some third party tools available for this .

hmm shame i had read that elswhere but thought that SCOM would somehow pick it up but maybe not then.....
Im trying to start planning our Exch 2010 environment and would like those sorts of stats, what is everyone else doing for this?

If you have enabled message tracking, then the message tracking logs will have that information. All you should need to do is write a little script to go through them. I think there are third-party tools that help with that,
and there might be some free scripts out there. Quest MessageStats is one not-free tool I'm aware of.

Hi,
There is no such a feature in Exchange. However, there are some third party software that can be used to analyze the message tracking logs and produce detailed reports
and provide information. Quest and Promodag are two of the ones.
Thanks,
Elvis
