Hai there, we have at our company, moved all of ouer files from a microsoft server,  to a cloud based storage at Amazon(S3). But after that, all of our office files does not get locked for editing any more, when a user have a file open. Is that due to files is on a cloud based storage, or do we have any way og getting this feature re-enabled ?

What I have tried:

We have users on both Office 2010 and 2013, I have double cross chekked that the files have same extension eg. all the excel files have .xlsx

Hi,

By "office files does not get locked for editing any more", do you mean no parellel editing? Is "Restrict Editing" your are referring to by "this feature"? How do you access those files?

I've tested from my side by using personal Amazon Clould Drive. For personal Amazon Cloud Drive, I can only editing files from local folder which synced with Amazon Clould Drive, therefore, the "Restrict Editing" is working fine.

yes, sorry for my bad explaining :)

It is the parallel editing, so when a user have the file open, and a second user opens that file, he / she will get a message saying that you can open read-only and get notify when its free for editing.

We are using a client to connect all of our users to S3, so we can map the buckets as a drive on the computers..
So the issue might actually be the client we are using, its enables the users to edit files directly in the bucket, and not dragging files down locally, for editing.

Thanks for explaining it in detail. For the could drive editing behavior setting, I'm afraid my hands are tied. I would ask Amazon Supporting team on that matter. Thanks for your understanding.
