Hi All,

Setup.com /prepareschema is alwasy focused on Schema Master

How about which FSMO roles are required forr Setup.com /prepareAD and Setup.com /preparedomain?

I think this post should have been in normal QA section instead of Discussion.

Anyways, for /PrepareAD /PrepareDomain, you can have your all FSMO servers offline. Provided your running AD servers don't run out of RID pool.

Basically they are no way specially required by Exchange for the remaining commands. As Configuration  and Default naming context partitions are only used.

ONly requirement is The computer where you'll run the command needs to be in the same Active Directory domain and site as the schema master. It'll also need to contact all of the domains in the forest on TCP port 389.

Thank you for your question.

In addition above suggestion, we suggest you dont make FSMO server offline when we run /PrepareAD and /PrePareDomain, because it will contact FSMO if there are not enough AD resource. We could refer to the following link:
