FE/BE Install Cleanup Task
I have an Exchange 2K3 FE/BE configuration that was originally onlt BE. I installed a load balanced FE which handles all the OWA and Active Sync traffic. The BE used to handle all that traffic so is it safe for me to disable the virtual server in IIS? Thanks!

Hi, You mean to say you need to disable exchange virtual directory on Exchange BE server. Exchange ActiveSync uses HTTP-DAV to access the users mailbox. By default these HTTP requests are all sent to the /Exchange virtual directory on the mailbox server. You can disable only exchange virtual directory if client access only OWA not exchnage active synch, but you will not be able to troubleshoot BE mailbox issue with OWA. But I did not see this kind of implementation in any envir.. , Please have a llok of below URL to understand componenets of IIS 6.0 http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Demystifying-OWA-2003-FEBE-Logon-Process.htmlAnil

No, actually Exchange requires to have those virtual directory running under Virtual Server of IIS for many tasks... Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
