External pop3 service
I have installed an exchange 2003 server (first time) on my Lan. The question I have is how do I check external pop3 mail from other providers? I have my exchange server operating, and am able to send and receivemail messages to my outlook clients (internally). Everything inside looks great! I need to pop a couple of (external Internet)mail servers and have the mail routed to my exchange box. This would reduce the activity that multiple machines are popping for the same mail and using up bandwidth!

In the standalone versions of Exchange there is no POP3 connector offered. Many people would rightly argue if you are running a real email server there should be no need for external POP3 mailboxes. Rather than rehashing an already well documented debate a nice summary can be found at this link however a internet quick search will net you many more: http://www.swinc.com/resources/exchange/smtp_diatribe.asp Putting aside the headaches of this method there are a number of third party programs that can accomplish what you are trying to do. A fairly comprehensive list of POP3 downloaders can be found here: http://www.slipstick.com/exs/popconnect.asp#tools
