External email address in AD- General - Email field
Hi,
We have a hybrid environment with students having mailboxes on Exchange Online and staff mailboxes on Exchange on-premises. Parents Active Directory user accounts are not mail-enabled or mailbox-enabled.
We need to populate Active directory with parents email addresses for integration purposes with other systems. Do you envisage any issues with using AD E-mail field to enter external email addresses?
Thank you for your help.

You should only need to populate the 'mail' attribute. Possibly the 'mailNickName' one as well.

Hi ,

Thank you for your question.

Did you mean you type external email address in the following snapshot(if I misunderstand, please be free to let me know):

If that, it is no issue about present email system, but we could not send email to those AD account, because those account didnt have internal email address account, we just send email to those external email address.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

We just need to extract parents email addresses and want to use the email field for integration purposes with other internal web systems.
