External Mail is not being delivered internally
Hello all,I have a question for the Exchange gurus. Here is our setup:Currently, we have our ISP receiving external mail to our domain. We have a connector in place that downloads external mail to our Exchange server from the ISP. We have recently begin to see that some external mail will make it internally to our Exchange environment, but more times than not, the E-mails never make it.Upon looking at our logs, we see that we are indeed downloading the E-mails via the connector to our Exchange environment, but then we see an error message from the administrator@mydomain.com account stating that there are no recipients to deliver the E-mail too.Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thanks,MDH

Hi - the problem is your POP connector. Ditch it and host your own mail. You will see this and myriad other problems just <poof> disappear. POP connectors are not recommended and there are very, very few situations in which you cannot have mail delivered directly to your server via SMTP, the way Exchange is meant to work. I would provide more detail but you haven't included your version or SP levels of anything which makes it difficult to advise you further - but it's quite easy to do.Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Resolved the issue.....We were a victim of Exchange 2007 Back Pressure Feature...... we have a 12 GB server and it had tapped out at 11.7 GB. BP had stopped all mail flow. After we alleviated the resource utilization, we were back up and running.MDH

EventViewer is your friend. :-) I have had the "back pressure" issue numerous times and I *always* forget until I check the disk space or the event viewer.Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com
