External Contact
Hi,I have an external contact setup, but whenever we send any emails to this contact, he receives everything in plain text and attachments are stripped out. I have changed the setting for the user "Use MAPI rich text format" to "Always".This has happened before for another external contact, but that time I selected "Hide from Exchange address lists" and asked the users to manually type her address in, however this doesn't seem to resolve the latest issue.

Hello, let me understand you.You have a contact called abc and the SMTP address on that user is abc@domain.com Now you're sending an email to that external contact from your exchange server and your email account yourid@yourdomain.comusing rich text format... but when you check the email at abc@domaon.com you see that email in text format? How about if you send an email to you some other hotmail or gmail account and check?Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Hi Arun,Yes that's correct. It works fines when you check in Hotmail, etc, so it doesn't seem to be a server issue, as other emails being sent are okay. The thing is, we have a Techinical Support logging system which sends auto replies. He received that email just fine, in the same format as it's usually sent.Any other ideas? Thanks,Dharmesh

I agree there is not issue with the exchange server, you need to check with the sytem settings inplace in your company (Technical Support Loggin System) and see the support there.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Hi Arun,I meant that the Technical Support system, when it sent the auto reply to the user, the format of this was fine, but when I then sent an email to that user from my email account, it was in plain text. It's not a problem with that system which I' looking for help with. Thanks,Dharmesh

Hi, I know this is an old post, but thought someone might like to know the answer. In Exchange Management Console, find the Mail Contact. On the General tab, there is drop-down for "Use MAPI rich text format". This should be set to Never. You can set this as a Server Configuration if preferred. Regards, Dharmesh
