Exporting a Mailbox on 2007 Start to Finish
I need instructions on how to export a mailbox in exchange 2007, and I need complete instructions.
What I have read has indicated that this can only be done by installing the Management Tools on a 32bit system running Outlook. So I tried that. (Extraordinarily counter intuitive by the way to have to select "Install Exchange" to install the Management
Tools.) I can't the installation to work. I fail at the Management Tools Prerequisites.
Error: The IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility component is not installed....
Error: The IIS Management Console is not installed.
The system is running Vista. These are server roles. Microsoft's site implies this will run on Vista, but I don't see how.
Is there another way to get mailboxes exported? What I have read indicates you can't do it straight from the server, but has anyone tried?
Help would be very much appreciated. The end goal is getting a pst of a current mailbox on our system for legal reasons. It sure seems like Microsoft has made this ridiculously hard.

Check out Lucid8's DigiScope
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp it will allow you to do exactly what you want in a very intuitive GUI. DigiScope supports Exchange 2010, 2007, 2003, 2000 or 5.5 and allows you to Open, Browse, Search or Export data directly from any
ONLINE Production Mailbox or any OFFLINE EDB, i.e. backup of the Exchange database. You can also recover data from a historic offline copy of a database to any production exchange server OR if desired you can even delete, purge data from any online production
server.
