Export mailbox to pst file?
Hi, How do you archive mailboxes from an Exchange 2007 server? In our 2003 days we simply exported the mailbox to a pst file but 2007 doesn't seem to support that very well. At least all I've found so far requires installing the management tools on a 32-bit computer running Outlook. The management tools install files are huge, do I really need to download and install all of that? Thanks in advance, Linn

With Exchange 2007, that is what is required. You will need a separate workstation or server with both Exchange 2007 32 bit tools and Outlook installed. Then you can do the export. Exmerge can be used but would require the Exchange 2003 system management tools to be installed. Still exports to PST file, but doesn't restrict you to 2gb like exmerge. Ok, so it wasn't quite as bad as I originally thought. I only had to install the first download to get the management tools installed. Then I had to give the Administrators Group full access permissions to the mailbox and then ran into a problem where there were too many corrupt messages. Solution for that was to include the -BadItemLimit parameter giving it 1000, I think that was it at least. Seems like a rather simple task, don't know why they make us maintain a 32-bit system just for doing this but, oh well. Thanks, Linn
