Export-Mailbox still doesn't work in Exchange 2010 SP1 as promised
Known bug of not being able to run Export-Mailbox command on a single server with HUB/CAS/Mailbox roles was supposed to be fixed in SP1. I still cannot get the applet to run after assigning the role. FWIW, I used this article to assign the rights: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633452.aspx Am I missing something here, or is it still a known bug "to be fixed later?" SnoBoy

Hi, What's error you got when running the new-MailboxExportRequest? I tested this command in my exchange 2010 SP1 server (HUB/CAS/Mailbox) and it works without problem. It acts like it was never configured: The term 'export-mailbox' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. It is just like I had never set up the role assignments at all! Facts: Enterprise Support role group exists My account is a member of that group That Group has Mailbox Import Export as a role Yet, I can't run the Export-Import command! It doesn't matter if I Run as Administrator on not - fails with not recognized message. WHY? SnoBoy

Hi, In exchange 2010, there is no "export-mailbox" cmdlet. You should use "new-MailboxExportRequest " to export a mailbox. <Editorial Comment> Slaps forehead! That's right, Microsoft's developers arbitrarily changed the command, didn't even have the common courtesy of having the old command suggest the new one. It didn't work for so long I had forgotten that the change was made for no apparent reason after SP1 was released. <Editorial Comment/> Note to whomever cares at Microsoft: it isn't nice to change the command completely without having the old command at least suggest what the new command is.SnoBoy

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the new command is also much less versatile than the old one. For instance, it requires exporting to a PST file, whereas before I could export to a separate mailbox folder. I was previously able to search for emails using the export-mailbox command, then gather them up and delete them using the "deletecontent" switch. This was incredibly useful for quickly removing dangerous or unwanted emails. If there's some easy replacement for this functionality, I'd be happy to be corrected by someone.
