Expanding an Address List with nested Lists fails with error
I go to test in my lab when users (in All Staff) are not included in staff (Global Address list set in the address book policy), i will get the error you posted. If users are in staff, All Staff can be expanded without any error. Please go to check that in your environment, and post the updates. Best Regards, EvanEvan Liu TechNet Community Support

Using the process above: - If the ABP_TestStaff is applied to a mailbox, the "+All Staff" list shows the error (above) when expanded (or any other list). - If no ABP is applied to a mailbox, the "+All Staff" list can be expanded to show the users within (or any other list).

When trying to expand Address Lists with nested Lists in Outlook 2010 the following error is displayed: "Cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected in not for this recipient. There was an error while expanding the list. The list was not fully expanded" I was previously able to expand these Address Lists; revealing the nested lists and users within them; but since I upgraded to Sp2 and assigned ABP, I now get the error above. Before implementing ABP, all the Users and Address Lists would appear in the default GAL. Now only the assigned users appear in the new GALs, and assigned Address List can be selected by using the dropdown within the GAL window. Is there a way I can have the Expand list function back, how do I add these Address List into the new assigned GALs? Many Thanks

Hello, What is address address book policy you assigned to that mailbox? You can follow this document to configure address book poliy: Configure Address Book Policy Properties http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh529941.aspx Thanks, Evan Evan Liu TechNet Community Support Thank you for the reply. I originally used the same link above to setup the ABP's. Before the ABP is applied to a mailbox, Outlook shows the default GAB. Displayed in this default GAB are all Users and Address List (items like "ALL Staff" group). If selecting the "+All Staff" address list/group, you can then click on the "+" sign to expand the group to view/edit the users and group lists within. After the ABP is applied to a mailbox, Outlook correctly shows only the new assigned GAL. Displayed in this new GAL are only the selected users assigned to that GAL; no Address List groups appear in this GAL. Address Lists assigned to this ABP can be selected by using the dropdown menu from within the "Select Names: Global Address Book" window. If the "+" sign is selected to expand this same "+All Staff" group list, the group will no longer expand to reveal what's inside, but gives the error message posted above. I hope I have explained this accurately, please comment for further information or advice. Cheers
