Exmerge to pst only get Folder no email Exchange 2003
I have restored a copy of my exchange 2003 database to Recovery Storage Group from NT backup. It have mounted the database and using Exmerge I see all the mailboxes. The issue I have is when I run exmerge or "Recovery mail box data feature" I get all the folders but none of email contained in them. This happens with all teh accounts I have tried? I am running Exmerge on the server (with the correct permissions) and I have no errors. Anybody have a clue? Thank you

Hmm nope that is an odd one for sure, and ExMerge is not real great with error messages. Also do you know that ExMerge can only put out ANSI PST files and that they have a 2GB Limit? if you go over that limit ExMerge will not tell you, it just corrupts the PST. If you want a more robust alternative check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp BTW you can get a 30-day demo on the fly which will let you open the raw EDB without having to use the RSG and then at least you can see if there is data within the EDB in question, i.e. the demo license will let you open, browse all mailboxes, see the subject lines of messages etc but you cannot export or recover without a purchased license and we do have very affordable project based licenses as well Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

Well Troy thanks for your reply. The issues in not the 2 gig limit as I was doing it by date range to be sure of that. I even tried two days work and folders get restored but but no email. WHile I would love to try your product this is a Not For Profit that Im doing a favor for and they don't have the money to spend on this. I guess it one of those things its really important but they can't spend a dime on it.

Understood did you try removing the date range temporarily to see if data populates, i.e. you could start the export and watch the PST grow then stop and see what happens Troy Werelius www.Lucid8.com

Yes, with more then one user and the pst never grows large then 1 meg. All the folder names are correct just no email inside of them, and you even get sub-folders. I might need to try the demo you spoke of just to be sure everthing looks ok. Thanks
