Existing user does not show up in Exchange 2007 user list when creating new mailbox
I have looked into some of the similar topics listed on this forum and none of the solutions put forth have worked. I am using the EMC in exchange 2007 and I would like to add a second mailbox to a current user. I go through the mailbox wizard and select user mailbox and then existing user and when I go to browse for the existing user all I see is a list of default user profiles under our domain. I have tried to update the global address list and the user address list and neither have changed anything when I browse for existing user. Not sure what to do to resolve this issue, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, A user can only have one mailbox. If you want this user to have a second mailbox, you need to create a new user/mailbox and give the "first user" full mailbox access.Martina Miskovic

Hi, That is not possible. A user account can only be associated with one mailbox. What is your goal with this? Leif

I am using the EMC in exchange 2007 and I would like to add a second mailbox to a current user. Please clarify if this user has exchange mailbox. What do you mean second mailbox? external mailbox? Are you going to create mailbox with exsiting users? As Martina and Leif said, please understandone that user only could have one mailbox Xiu Zhang TechNet Community Support

I am attempting to have a User that can send out email from 2 seperate email accounts. I know how to have multiple email addresses go to her mailbox currently; but I need her to be able to choose which account she wants to send/reply from. Ex: user@domain1.com user@domain2.com Both accounts go to her outlook inbox but when she goes to send a new email or respond to one I need her to be able to choose what she wants to show as her email address. It seems somewhat silly but it is required for billing purposes from a company we deal with. Thanks for your help

In that case you will need to create a second user account for them to use. If they have Outlook 2010 both accounts can be open in Outlook at the same time and she can select which one to send from. Steve

Thanks to all who responded. Solution was as stated in the responses. I created a second user account for my user along with a new mailbox. Then went to the user's properties. Under the Email Addresses tab I made sure that the email address that I wanted for that user was showing and was set as primary. Second under the Exchange advanced tab went to Mailbox Rights button and then added the original user account and set proper permissions for the new mailbox. Outlook 2007 would only let me use 1 exchange account for the inbox, but I was able to connect to the account using SMTP.
