Exchange will only receive internal messages, external messages get bounced back.
Hello, I have a Windows SBS 2008 with exchange 2007. I came into work today, and was told that external emails have not reached our company all weekend. Exchange does not even recognize it receives the messages, and the external email client we used to test returned a mailer deamon. While troubleshooting, I made sure all ports are open on our Linksys RVS4000 router were open for POP3, SMTP, IMAP. I checked the windows Firewall exceptions to be sure that exchange was still in the firewall exceptions. Are there any tips or helpful hints that can reconcile this problem? Is there any more information needed so that I can receive better help? Thank you, Shane

Paste the NDR here, and what happens when you try to do telnet to your exchange server on port 25?Arun Kumar | MCSE:W2K3 + Messaging | MCTS:Exchange 2007 | MCTS:OCS 2007 R2 | ITIL-F V3

when i am trying to look for the MX record for your domain [saccontsys.com] it says there is no record found! Is this your email domain? what is your MX record? where does it points to? any recent change to firewall? or NAT rules?Arun Kumar | MCSE:W2K3 + Messaging | MCTS:Exchange 2007 | MCTS:OCS 2007 R2 | ITIL-F V3

Hi Shane, The problem could be caused by the Permission setting of the receive connecter. 1. Please Open the EMC -> Server Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Receive Connectors . 2. Right click the receive which you use to receive the Internet email and choose properties. 3. In Permission Groups, make sure that the "Anonymous users" option is checked. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. it doesn't look like yahoo knows how to talk to your email server. This is due to a lack of a mx record on your external dns. You need to setup a mx record to point to your mail server. Then use Gen Lin comment to configure exchange to accept internet email. This is what yahoo you anyone else would see of your dns domain. Notice how it says no records found in the mx catagory. ns:saccontrolsys.com ns Type Domain Name IP Address TTL NS ns43.worldnic.com 205.178.190.22 2 hrs NS ns44.worldnic.com 206.188.198.22 2 hrs Reported by ns43.worldnic.com on Wednesday, August 04, 2010 at 11:46:21 PM (GMT-5) a:saccontrolsys.com a Type Domain Name IP Address TTL A saccontrolsys.com 207.212.143.98 2 hrs Reported by ns44.worldnic.com on Wednesday, August 04, 2010 at 11:46:15 PM (GMT-5) mx:saccontrolsys.com mx No records found Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
