Exchange user Connecting to second site

Hi all

I have setup an Exchange 2013 environment recently.

I have one server in our main office and another server at the other office.
We are not using DAG as yet. Created databases in both locations. Both servers can communicate and from the ECP of eithier on you can make changes.

Problem i have is users in the 2nd office are connecting to the exchange server in the 1st office and some users from 1st office are connecting to the 2nd office. Not sure why when they have been assigned to a Mail-store on there own Exchange server?

How do i force them to connect to there own Server first?

Thanks

This is because you only have 1 AD site so that AutoDiscover direct Outlook to random CAS server. No matter which CAS Outlook connect to, CAS will proxy it to the local mailbox server ultimately.

If you really care about CAS connection, you'll need to create an additional AD site for 2nd office. You need at least 2 AD domain controllers, one per AD site.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your question.

How did you check Exchange connect to different site CAS server?

I agree with Li zhen. Because Exchange 2013 no longer requires session affinity at load balance, outlook choose the CAS server from AD randomly. In order to perform high performance, we suggest you deploy Exchange 2013 CAS high availability in organization by the following link:

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Daniel,

If you run Get-ClientAccessServer | fl name, *uri*, what are the internalURIs?

Depending on your internal DNS configuration, you may have them contacting the other server.

Depending on the internal URI, please do an NSLookup against the record and do it a few times from each site. Does it round-robin between the two?
