Exchange server 2003 down ... rebuilding the database fails
I am trying to use eseutil /p to rebuild a corrupted exchange data base The commant I am using is eseutil /p c:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb /sc:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.stm /te:\temp.edb The error return is: Error: Access to source database 'c:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb' failed with Jet error -1811. Operation terminated with error -1811 (JET_errFileNotFound, File not found) afte r 0.110 seconds. what am I doing wrong both the priv1.edb and stm files are in C:\program files\exchsrvr\MDBDATA the E: drive has plenty of room for the temp file Thanks Frank 602-996-2106

verify the path of the file and run an eseutil /mh for that file and post the output here. Where are your log files? Are there log files missing? How did the database become corrupt? How did you determine a repair was necessary? Note: Make sure you copied that file off somewhere before running the repair in case it rips out too much. Here's an article for your reference: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997215(EXCHG.65).aspx

Thanks... As and fyi, I have reinitized the priv and pub data stores. The original problem occured due to the server running out of disk space on the drive that houses the exchange server. I tried to run a backup of the exchange server but it failed do to lack of disk space. I ended up manully deleting some of the log files... for all users never delete one labeled Exx.log where the xx is a 00 or other number. (a very bad idea) Once I had some working room I tried restarting the storage group... and it failed... I tried the recovery tool that is on the Microsoft website... it was able to tell me that I had deleted the E00.log file.. and that the Shutdown was to the information store. I then started looking for a way to start the store from scratch and found the article that explained how to... http://www.dtidata.com/resourcecenter/2008/04/25/starting-exchange-server-with-a-blank-information-store/ and presto... it worked and I am running again... I know that I lost some information but it is really less important than the current mail. Also the mail that had not been delievered from the time that the information store shut down was waiting once the exchange server was back up and running.
