Exchange receiving from Port 587
My exchange server will not receive mail from a local ISP that requires its users to use Outgoing port 587. Other accounts will receive the same message. What do I need to check/do?

Hi, Which version you are using Exchange 2003 or 2007 ? For Exchange 2007 read this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512685.aspx And this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995965%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx For Exchange 2003 this will help you. Click the Windows "Start" button. Select "All Programs." In the list of programs, select "Exchange Server," then click the icon labeled "Exchange System Manager." This opens your Exchange server console, where you'll configure the mail settings. Step 2 Click your Exchange server name on the left side of the window. Underneath the icon, a list of options expands. Click "Protocols," then click "SMTP." Step 3 Right-click "Default SMTP Virtual Server" in the details section of the window. Select "Properties." Click the "Delivery" tab. At the bottom section of this tab, click the button labeled "Outgoing Connections." This opens a new configuration window. Step 4 Enter "587" in the "TCP Port" text box. Click "OK" to save your settings. This changes the SMTP port to 587. Click "OK" again at the main settings window to finalize your changes. I hope this will help you. Regards. Hi, If the Exchange server cannot receive the email from the ISP, you need to change the TCP port as 587 under General Tab on the SMTP VS. Thanks Allen

This has not solved my problem. Is there something else I can look for? I have a personal email account with EATEL (a local ISP) On Outlook, I use settings "My server requires authentication" under the Outgoing server tab. I also use Outgoing Server '587' in the Advanced Tab. If I send an email to my work MS Exchange account from that account with those settings, and cc a gmail account, I get the mail in the gmail account, but not in the exchange account. I do not get any type of rejection notice or error message for the sent email. When I am using an IP provided by EATEL (the ISP), I can use outgoing port 25. If I do that, I GET the E-Mail on the exchange server. What do I do with this??

Hi, I think you should use the message tracking and figure out that where your mail is getting dropped I hope you will be able to get it that why its not coming. Regards.
