Exchange public folder notification
Hi Guys, I would like to achieve below task using exchange 2003. Please give me some input on completing the task. 1. I have created a public folder with mail enabled and i wanted e-mail notification when there is a new e-mail. I have used Administration -->Folder Assistance before to send out notification but in this case i do not want to forward the e-mail and i do not want sender to get a notification about a new e-mail. I would like only group of users receive notification except sender. 2. Once one of the group member open the e-mail in public folder it should send out another notification to rest of the group saying that e-mail has been read by some one else (user name if possible with subject of the e-mail)in that group so no one else going to reply to that e-mail any more. Please help me to achieve this task. If it is not possible with Exchange public folder and if you know any other tool can do it please let me know. Thanks, Karunakar Reddy Regards, Karunakar

You'll have to script something or maybe check at slipstick.com Public Folders arent really intended for workflow applications. Maybe look at Sharepoint instead as well.

Hi Andy, Thank you. yes i heard that it can be possible through scripting but i am not sure exactly how to write to script for it. We are using sharepoint but we want external client to send an e-mail an then users should get a notification when there is a new e-mail. Thanks, Karunakar ReddyRegards, Karunakar

I think that should be possible in sharepoint if you create a mailenabled list and then the users can subscribe to the list. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Hi Victor, Thank you but it looks like for Exchange 2000 server and has not been tested for exchange 2003. At the moment i am using exchange Administrative rules to notify the users. Thanks.Regards, Karunakar

To archive the Public Folder notification feature, you may have to use a script as Andy mentioned. Regarding to the script question, you may need create a new thread in the Script forum. Please understand that we only discuss Exchange question in a pure Exchange environment. Thank you for your understanding. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ITCG/threads/ Regards,Novak Wu-MSFT
