Exchange public folder SMTP addresses
When I create a folder within my Public Folder tree a SMTP address is automaticall generated. Is there anyway I can reverse this and remove all the SMTP addresses assoicated with each folder in the PF tree. Also how can I stop this from happening? Hi, If your Exchange org is in mixed mode, this is the default. In Native mode, public folders are not automatically mail-enabled when created.here is the solution IN ESM> Folders>public folders>folder name>Right-click the folder and choose All-Tasks->Mail Disable. This will remove the email addresses Regards from www.windowsadmin.info

Hello,I think Deleting the directory objects for the folders that you do not want Mail-Enabled is the solution available. Please check it with other exchange wizards available here :) Regards from www.windowsadmin.info

What’s the mode of exchange server, mixed or native? Does the public folder not have the SMTP address ever before? Where do you see the SMTP address on the public folder? Is there a “E-mail Addresses” tab in the “Properties” of public folder via ESM?James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi James The exchange server is ruuning in mixed mode I migrated from exchange 2000 to exchange 2003 STD, this was a complete server, hardware refresh, however I was not using PF in my old exchange enviroment. When I expand the FOLDERS within the ESM tree and then right click any folder and access the properties pop-up I get a e-mail addresses tab

I think ManU has answered the question “When an Exchange Server organization is in mixed mode, all folders in the MAPI top-level hierarchy (TLH) are mail-enabled” ---------Refer to <Exchange Public Folder Best Practices: Mail-Enabling Public Folders>James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
