Exchange mail Routing / Send Connector Question
Hi there i have a exchange 2007 server and want to do the following thing: i have 2 MX records, these 2 Servers are hosting 270 Domains... i want to route Mails which are Sent to the MX Records to a specific Smarthost... is that possible, i Know that i can configure it with the Domain Names... i have a script which sets all domains in the connector... but it would be way easier to set it up for those 2 MX Records... but i think the Exchange cannot proof to which IP (MX) he sends a mail with the domain abc.com.... It would be great if someone has a hint! Thank you!--- Thanks for Helpin'

As I understand, your question is you want your in house Exchange HUB server to smart host to an specific IP when It try to send to emails hosted on the 2 external servers with 2 specific MX records, plz correct for me if I'm wrong. As far as I know, No you can't, as send connectors are processed according to the "Domains" associated with it, If you tested your script, you can go with this option.Ibrahim Al Masry http://www.ibra.me/

Yes this is right! Mailrouting go like this: mail to ABC.de Exchange sees goes to abc.de / ip MX 1.2.3.4 Sendconnector sees should route to smarthost 192.168.0.xx because of the MX... But if it only works with Domain names... i must ask the Network / VPN Hoster of our NEtwork if we can handle it there,,, If someone else has an idea i can wait!--- Thanks for Helpin'

Based on my research, I’m afraid that you cannot use the two MX Records to archive this feature as Ibrahim mentioned.
