Exchange issues
I am not the administrator of our network, nor can I see the EX event logs or any settings. However, I am hoping to be able to help identify a problem we are having using our Exchange RPC-HTTP outside of the network. We run Ex 2003 and I am using Outlook 2007 on Vista - the problems detailed below appear to effect Outlook 2003 and 2007 on Vista, XP and Server 2003. Outlook connects (externally) to EX via RPC-HTTP intermittently. When it connects in rpcdiag I see: Server.local Directory Wireless HTTPS Established 23/16 3075 Server.local Directory Wireless HTTPS Established 15/10 4271 Server.local Directory Wireless HTTPS Established13/7 3619 Server.local Directory Wireless HTTPS Established12/8 5304 Server.local MailWireless HTTPSEstablished105/132107 Server.local MailWireless HTTPSEstablished215/14204 Server.local Public Folders Wireless HTTPSEstablished107/17 1304 Every hour or so Outlook will fail and rpcdiag will show connecting attempt on the directories and then disconnected for a while and try again. Eventually it connects again. On a side note, when this happens and I am unable to connect via Outlook - I am also unable to sync via ActiveSync (OTA) on my WM6 device. I get an error code 0x85010017 which doesn't appear to have anything to do with the errors I am seeing. When Outlook does connect, ActiveSync on my WM device will display 'connected' - please note I don't mean I am connecting my WM device to my PC, I am using ActiveSync OTA. Now when I run rpcdiag through TS (internally) I see: Server.local Directory TCP/IP Established6/3 1703 Server.local MailTCP/IP Established232/4 632 Server.local Directory TCP/IP Established10/3 723 Server.local MailInternalHTTPS Established79/0 918 Server.local DirectoryInternalHTTPS Established3/0 7041 Server.local MailTCP/IP Established21/4 23 Server.local MailTCP/IP Established5/2 0 I don't know if we have maybe one rouge 2000 DC or if maybe the registry settings are off, I don't know why the Avg Resp is so high on some of these, nor do I know why internally it is giving up on HTTPS and moving to TCP/IP. During this process /rpc still gives me the permissions denied error, OWA works just fine. I have not tried OMA during an "outage" and Outlook is connected right now so of course OMA is working right now. Any suggestions? I can also be emailed at measlick@gmail.com Thanks!
