Exchange global distribution list
Hello Everyone, I am a very new and raw Microsoft Exchange 2007 admin (I pretty much got stuck with this role). I have an email user who would like to create a distribution list that includes people outside of the organization (who do not have email accounts on our exchange server). I know that she can create a distribution list like that on her outlook client, but she wants to create that DL so that anyone in the organization can use it. We do have plenty of global DLs, but those all are for the internal exchaange users. Is this possible with Exchange 2007? If not, is there a workaround for this? Thank you.RZoolander

It's 2 tasks. 1. First you need to create DL in Exchange so everyone can use it. Can you add non Exchange contacts to a DL to an Exchange DL? Yes but you need to create mail enabled contacts for these external users ie. user@yahoo.com and then add them to the Exchange DL. 2. In order for her to create the DL she has to be delegated rights to create DLs in Exchange 2007 as well as contacts. The ability to delegate just this task is a bit difficult in 2007 since you don't have the ability to use rbac like you can in 2010. Typically you would only want admins and desktop support to be able to create objects in AD any ways. James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com
