Exchange contacts in Contacts export as paths not smtp addresses in CSV to import into gmail

I'm trying to export my contacts to a CSV so they can be imported into gmail.  The only problem is people who are also in the Exchange global address list, those people are exporting as a path statement in the email address column, not as just their smtp address. 

Is there a way to force them to export with their smtp address rather than their path in exchange?

Hi,

I'm afraid this is the expected behavior. Currently, for Exchange contacts, the address is stored in x500 format because it is part of the Exchange organization, and the SMTP address is stored in the Outlook auto-complete cache for emails sent externally.

At this point, the only workaround is to use a third-party import/export program that allows export either address type as described in the following post:
