Exchange benefits over simple IMAP
All, I have been considering a migration from our existing mail system based on mDaemon to an Exchange system. Presently, we have approximately 125 employees, about 50 of which have Blackberries. After a number of complaints regarding the synchronization of read and deleted items between Outlook and BB, we have considered moving those 50 users either to using IMAP-based accounts on mDaemon or to Exchange. I realize that there are a number of specific benefits in terms of the functionality and administration of BBs using exchange and BESx server. However, in order to convince Management to purchase the necessary licenses, I am trying to compile a comprehensive list of all the benefits that moving to Exchange will offer as opposed to using IMAP on mDaemon. So far I have considered the following: - Synchronization of read status from outlook to BB - Ability to file emails from BB - Shared Global Address Books to allow all employees access to vendors, contractors, etc. (we have a propriety database on our local intranet, but it is not as easily accessible and I don't think that it is widely used) - Ability to share subfolders amongst teams (i.e. I can grant read access for my specific project folders to those members of my team) Any input would be greatly appreciated. It seems to me that there is no single feature that will make the migration a winner, but rather a number of smaller features that are desireable. Of these, not all of them may be used by all or most of the staff. If you could please advise as to additional benefits that I have not thought of, I would be able to put together a comprehensive list and hopefully put together a compelling argument. Thanks in advance. Michael

Don't know if this reply comes too late, but you've hit the high spots. Delegation, handhelds (BES and ActiveSync), integration with AD, etc. And reduced administration from what you've got now, I reckon. Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Fill in the box completely and erase any stray marks. Use only a #2 pencil.
