Exchange Tab missing within Active Directory Users and Computers
Okay I'm new to setting up exchange, I have completed the initial install so far. Next I figured I needed to attached the exchange mailboxes to the ad user accounts. Yes we have AD Windows 2008 up and functioning, we used a third-party ISP for our email (pop) for years now I'm building my own server in-house. Since I have an AD account I'm sure I need to bind the AD to the mail account within exchange, but I can find the Exchange Tab within AD, why?

What version of Exchange? if 2003, you need to install the Exchange management tools and this will install the AD plug-in. for 2007/2010, there are no AD plug-ins, you have to use the Exchange management tools to manage mailboxes.Tim Harrington | MVP: Exchange | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010, MCITP: Lync 2010, MCITP: Server 2008, MCTS: OCS | Blog: http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com | Twitter: @twharrington

Exchange 2010 but I have a question, so when you are adding new users to AD, how do you ensure they get an email account setup too. In the old version, you built the user a normal then it created the account within Exchange too, how do that work.

Yeah...it is opposite now. From AD, you can only create users. From the Exchange Management Tools, you can create AD users and mailboxes at the same time. If you just want to mailbox enable an already created account you can follow this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123809.aspxTim Harrington | MVP: Exchange | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010, MCITP: Lync 2010, MCITP: Server 2008, MCTS: OCS | Blog: http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com | Twitter: @twharrington

Okay I just tried it that way and I see, weird this was changed through :-( Next question, now that I have installed the server, I need to move on and get the MX record and other things moved or pointed to this server, do you have documents for this or a good source for me to review with kinda step by step procedures? It is really hard to find this stuff...
