Exchange Store never starts automatically...
I would like to reference this thread:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/7c638371-f4b4-4a5c-83a8-03218fa03b7fThis error is generated:Unexpected error The clocks on the client and server machines are skewed. ID no: 80090324Everything actually is synced and there are no errors in any logs on the DC's or the Exchange box except this.Manually starting the Store works fine.Any ideas? There isn't anything really to troubleshoot here since I have no other data to look at. This is a really "fun" problem!Could this be a bug?

Are tehre any other applications running on the server? Is it a DC? My inital thought is the store is waiting for a service to start that it is dependant on.SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS

Scott, I looked for dependencies but those are starting without issue. I initially thought it may have been an RPC issue or the time service but that checked out.No it's not a DC.Looking back, it started doing this a few months ago. Didn't run any updates just a reboot. It was never right since then.Perplexed.

I would suggest you to run EXBPA to make sure that Exchange is in sync with DC and GC's http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=DBAB201F-4BEE-4943-AC22-E2DDBD258DF3&displaylang=en Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

HI, I had a similar case with yours. Please check Date, Time, Time Zone on all DCs and Exchange Servers. Between all servers time, date and Zone must be same. Also let us know below information.1. What is version of your exchange server and Domain?2. Do you use any 3rd party AV or antispam software on this server? Note-Exchange 2007 Sp1 RU9 has been released. So please update your server with RU9.ResourceUpdate Rollup 9 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1Regards Chinthaka

I ran EXBPA and there were no issues. We are running 2007 on Srvr 2008.Domain has 2003 and 2008 DC's.No 3rd party software on this server. All the time settings check out across all servers. Time service is running on all as well.It just seems like this is another MS issue where there is no rhyme or reason to the madness...

Looks like Exchange is looking for something which is not available at the moment during boot... Did you try setting BootPause registry as per method 3 in below KB...? Check if this trick works... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940845 May be Exchange service is doing time sync checkup before Windows try to sync automatically as per sync time source during boot and fails but when we verify the time sync, it shows correct... :p Setting BootPause registry force Exchange to wait for sometime and during that Windows finishsyncing time...!! ;)Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Ok, so here's the fix:Install W2K8 SP2!!!What a joke - but this actually did fix the problem. I also noticed now after SP2 was applied, ADaccess is running before any other Exchange services. It shows it's pulling the DC's info and then everything else is falling into place.I didn't notice this before until now. Looking back through the event log, ADaccess was running after the ES tried to start but it would knowingly fail if it could find a DC for time, DNS, etc...I would like to think this was the problem originally but I feel it could be mere coincidence.Any thoughts?

I would agree with Amit, try his fix. The Store is waiting for something to start which is why it isn't starting automatically. SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS

Amit was correct. Exchange couldn't find the DC's. See my post above with what I found to be the solution.

This is perplexed and interesting, W2k8 SP2 solved the problem!! :) Can you please verify that DependOnservice registry set as per part-2 of method-3 in KB940845? Which may give us clue...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

The server does not contain the DependOnService entries for IS and ADTopology.
