Exchange Setup cannot see DC although server is member of Domain.
I keep getting this message when I try and install Exchange 2007 and cannot seem to get round it. "Active Directory domain 'DC=xxx,DC=xxx' does not contain at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later. This is required for the '/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions' task when updating existing domains that have been previously prepared for Exchange Server." The server I am installing on is a W2K3 X64 SP2 which has been added to a domain which includes 2 DC's operating W2K3X86 SP2, the install passes all other prerequisites and can see the Exchange 2003 server which is also in that same Domain. Any clues as to what I have missed. This is driving me nuts...

Hi, Do you have domain controllers which are not 2003 SP1 or higher? If yes you need to try to run the setup with the /domaincontroller switch where you select one of the "good"DC's Leif

No.. both DC's are W2K3 SP2. what syntax do I need to force it to use the /domaincontroller switch. I have tried looking up the commands but dont see that one. when I run the ExBPAnalyzer the prerequisites see the DC's but wont see them as a "Microsoft Exchange System Objects" item

Hi, From your description, I understand that an error keeps receiving which indicates you to runsetup /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions while installing Exchange 2007. I noticed that you have already had an Exchange 2003 organization. Currently, you would like to install Exchange 2007 on an a member server (W2K3 X64 SP2), which in a domain that have two Domain Controller(W2K3X86 SP2). You have passed all prerequisites, but it still report the error. If there is anything missed, please let me know. Based on the current situation, the issue can occur if you have not prepared Active Directory and Domains correctly. Herein, I highly suggest you read below link which described detailed steps and scenarios of preparing Active Directory and Domains. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997914(EXCHG.80).aspx In addition, below is a guide about deploying Exchange 2007, I believe it helps when beginning Exchange 2007. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995902(EXCHG.80).aspx Thanks,
