Exchange Service Pack 2
Does anyone know what physical changes if any occur to the exchange database during/after sp2 updates your exchange server? I know the exchange database improvements that can be made after, but does running sp2 physically change anything within the database? My boss wants to know before he'll let me update our exchange environment.Any help is appreciated! Thanks,Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, New fields are added to the database header to track the total number of Error Code Correction (ECC) fix-ups and the total number of repairs a database undergoes. And some performance improvements for database access but these changes are not visible to admin and end-users since it doesnt change anything insidedata which is visible to users in mailboxes (in which your boss is interested ). Still if you want to see the list of changes/fixes then you can follow Design Changes and Fixes for SP2 session in Release Notes of SP2. http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/b/5/fb5c54af-fe5c-48e9-be97-f9e8207325ab/Ex_2003_SP2_RelNotes.htm Exchange 2003 SP2 Database Header changes http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2005/08/29/409959.aspx
