Exchange Server will not send or receive email
Could you please help? This happened yesterday between 9 and 10 am. We are running Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange SP2. First the SMTP Service stopped and then the information store stopped a wouldn't restart. I don't know exactly what happened but another individual here said they getting ready to remove the SMTP from IIS in the Add/Remove programs, but stopped because they realized they were on our Domain Controller. I checked it was still there, so I removed it and reinstalled it. I rebooted the server and the services started just fine however, I still cannot send or receive email, not even internally. I did see this in the event log this morning:The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Exchange Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: contentfilter.dll, 6.5.7638.1, 430e739c, unknown, 0.0.0.0, 00000000, 0, 01230220.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I tried running the CEICW utility and it fails on the email configuration. I also ran the message tracking tool and it shows that messages are being sent but they are not. I'm not getting any messages back at all when I send them internally, no message delivery fails or anything. I reinstalled SP2 for Exchange and followed this thread for a "so called fix" and I still get a failed attempt on my CEICW on the email configuration.1. The issue may occur if the security on the default website is not set the way it should be. Please try the following steps: 1) Open the IIS Management snap-in. 2) Open the properties of the Default Web Site and go to the Directory Security tab. 3) Go to the IP Address and Domain Name Restrictions setting and change the setting. Just do the opposite of what is set. If currently set to grant all, change it to deny all except for the local IP and subnet mask of the server. 4) Select all to apply the change to all subwebs. 5) Select all again to apply the change all the way down. 6) Run CEICW again. Running out of ideas.
