Exchange Server suddenly looking for decommissioned D.C

Hi

We have 4 Exchange servers.. 2010 , All was fine till this morning when the one exchange server is looking for a decommissioned active directory controller that has been removed from the domain

The ECP opens but cant see the exchange organization anymore

How do i get it to talk to one of the active domain controllers

Thanks in advance

The error is failed to connect to the active directory server...

Do you see decommissioned DC in MSExchange ADAccess Event with ID 2080?

Something similar to this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316300

It see's the correct domain controller in powershell , but same story in ECP looking for the retired D>C

Have you tried pointing Exchange to another DC

Set-ADServerSettings PreferredServer

Also make sure your local DNS settings on Exchange are not pointing to the old DC

check if DNS on the NIC is correct, if not point it to a SINGLE DC in NIC and reboot.

Hi,

Please run exchange BPA to check if there is any error.

Please check if there are any remaining pointers for the demoted domain controller within DNS, namely in DomainDNSZones and ForestDNSZones.

Please check if you have _ldap SRV records still present.
