Exchange Server suddendly stopped working - SMTP queue problem?
I installed Exchange 2003 on a box with Win 2003and Active Directory and all was working great. Then I installed Sharepoint 2007 and somewhere along the way Exchange stopped routing incoming email. After sending an email to davejones@mydomain.net anotice is sent to the administrator that looks like this: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Test Message Sent: 9/4/2007 11:24 PM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: Dave Jones on 9/4/2007 11:42 PM The e-mail address could not be found. Perhaps the recipient moved to a different e-mail organization, or there was a mistake in the address. Check the address and try again. <mydomain.net #5.1.7 smtp;500 5.1.7 Invalid or missing sender SMTP address> When I look at the queues in Exchange System Manager, the last entry is a sourced Default SMTP Virtual Server entry named someotherdomain.com, not the expected mydomain.net. Freezing this queue gets the message held, and after unfreezing, the messages are released from the queue and the above notice is sent. The message is never delivered to the recipient. Anyone know where the name of the queue come from? I wonder if this could be a lead? I only have one entry under SMTP called Default SMTP Virtual Server but nowhere can I find any reference to the queue name 'someotherdomain.com'. Thanks!
