I'm attempting to install just the management console on a Windows 2003 SP 2 x64 server. When attempting to launch Setup.exe and click on Step 4: Install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1, I get a popup that says "Exchange Server setup encountered an error" and an error in the Application event log that states: ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.1433 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (000006427F8A5DC8) (80131506)" If I attempt to use setup.com I get: "Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup Preparing Exchange Setup Exchange Server setup encountered an error." With no error in Event Viewer. In either case, the log file ExchangeSetup.log doesn't show any errors. Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't aware of SP2, but updating all the prerequisites and attempting SP2 didn't change the results. I still get the same .NET 2 error in event viewer. Unfortunately, you can't install the 32bit version on a 64bit machine, the install aborts immediately and tells you to install the 64 bit version.
