Are you sure that you have Exchange server or management tools installed on it? Just make sure in Add/Remove programs and verify that you have Exchange Server listed there.... You can go to Start -> Run and type MMC and once MMC opened go to File Menu -> Add or Remove Snap-in and select Exchange Server Snap-in and save that MMC on desktop to use it in future....Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

How do i open Exchange System Manager?
April 13th, 2009 3:39pm

Exchange System Manager is used to manage Exchange 2003 servers in environment. Do you have Exchange 2003 in your environment? If so, you can login on Exchange 2003 server to use it or install Exchange 2003 Management Tools on any member serer or workstation. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834121 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123850(EXCHG.65).aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Thanks for the response amit. I have a EXCHANGE SERVER 2007. My problem is that, i have developed a application, which should retrieve all the users from the GAL and display it. But, the issue is that, my GAL, contains more than 1000 contacts, but my application is able to retrieve only 12 contacts from the GAL. Could it be due to some access restrictions in the EXCHANGE SERVER. A similar third party application is also able to retrieve only 12 users, hence my assumption is that there is some cache, that is restricting all the users from being retrieved. Can u help me on this. Thanks in advance.

Shiv, I don't have knowledge on development side but if you use proper authentication then you should be able to retrieve all the contacts because all users have at least read-only permission on AD objects and GAL fetches information from AD based on permission. Second thing I suggest you to post a code in Development area with the detailed information where somebody can help you on programming level and the authentication if it requires to setup for your application.
