Exchange Server is unable to deliver Oracle Payslips for External Users

Dear All,

I have an Exchange Server running in my organization and is successfully serving to internal users. By using one of the POP3 tool i am successfully receiving external user emails to Exchange Server as well. But i have few confusions and problems

1. I have oracle based payslip system that is unable to send payslip to those who have their emails on yahoo and hotmail but it successfully sends to all who are confiigured with exchange server. How to resolve this???

2. Second issue is why we need to use POP3 external tools to setup with Exchange in order to handly pop3 mails.?? why exchange do not have such functionality???

3. Lastly, I have implemented One Exchange Server along with its DAG as high availability. for external users we have configured our ms record entries to the domain hosting company and whenever they have issue in their firewall they block exchange public ip addresses and our external email are then blocked. What is the recommended Exchange Scenario in this regards???

Thanks

Regards

Hi Ahmed,

Let's try to sort out your problems one by one:

1. Oracle-based payslip system most probably sends data with SMTP protocol. It can successfully reach internal recipients as far as their mailboxes located at your Exchange Server. To send out emails through your Exchange to external recipients with yahoo/outlook/etc recipients - there must be an open relay SMTP receive connector, configured strictly to accept data from Oracle's server IP only. Do you have it?

Smtp relay is not allowed by default in Exchange server, to prevent virus-contaminated machines on LAN to send spam around and outside. Therefore you have to ether configure an authentication for Ora to send data, or enable anonymous send and strictly isolate the data source in the SMTP connector.

2. When you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, POP3 client connectivity isn't enabled. However, you can easily enable POP3 client connectivity - you need to start two POP3 services, the Microsoft Exchange POP3 service and the Microsoft Exchange POP3 Backend service. When you enable POP3, Exchange 2013 accepts unsecured POP3 client communications on port 110 and over port 995 using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124934%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

3. Having just single Exchange Server in DAG has no sense at all. The DAG high availability features are based on the existence of 2-16 Exchange Servers installed in the cluster and enabled for database fail-over functionality.

How is your DAG cluster related to your public email IP addresses blocked on firewalls? Can you explain this problem a bit widely?
