Exchange Server deploy
Hello everyone, We have two exchange servers in two different locations (one in the office and another in the datacenter). At the moment, the office exchange server is responsible for accepting and sending all the emails. We would like to configure exchange server in the data center so that all the emails will be received and processed over there and then send a copy of email to our office exchange server. We have updated the MX record but can we configure the exchange server achieve this? Thanks in advance. Ning Ning Liu

you can go with site resilience to replicate to disaster recovery site, so whats you need to do is using Data Base Availability Group (DAG), unlike exchange 2007 you can use this feature along with other exchange roles. you will need to have Windows Server Enterprise Edition, and for exchange it will work on standard and enterprise more info: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638121.aspx

@Ning - What version of Exchange are you using? After the MX change, is the mail now going to the DC? If yes, depending on what version of Exchange you have, you can configure the mailbox role for replication, CCR/DAG. Sukh

Hi Sukh, We are using Exchange Server 2010. Yes, all the mails to the DC and I would like to configure it so it automatically send a copy of the email to our office exchange server 2010 as well. Thanks. Ning Liu

@Ning - Iassume you are using Exchange 2010 SP1, if not I'd advise you to upgrade first and to RUP3, unless you have reasons not to? You need to create a DAG which will let you achieve you goal. Below are some articles to help you understand and configure. I'd a have good read before doing any config work as you must understand the basics. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298065.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335158.aspx Sukh

Hi Ning Maybe I read the question wrong, but it seems to me that you just want to receive the mails in the datacenter and then move it along to the office. If this is the case you just need a receive connector and the datacenter to accept mails from the internet or from edge transport server. When the mails has gone though the Exchange server in the Datacenter it already knows that the user has a mailbox on the Office server and it will then forward the mail to the Hub transport server in that site when it will be delivered to the mailbox on the database server. If this is not the case try and elaborate your question a bit. The solution written by Sukh is for have a copy of all the users mailboxes in both sites. This is also an excellent solution if you have the option of doing so. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Hi Mracket, Thanks for your reply. You are right, we just want to receive the mails in the datacenter and then move it along to the office. The problem is that we have a MX record that already point to our datacenter exchange server. The exchange server in dc receives emails but I am not sure how to configure it so that it forward the mail ? The exchange server in DC and office are in different forests. Appreicated if you can provide some links or documents on this kind of setup. Thanks, NingNing Liu
