Exchange Server Profile Analyzer customization
Hi all,I have been given a requirement to capture statistics from our Exchange 2003 organisation, in particular relating to the message size distribution that passes through the estate. We currently have a maximum message size of 100MB, which we feel is much too large, and so are looking to reduce it to a much lower value (somewhere between 20MB and 40MB). What we would like is a statistical analysis of the messages that pass through Exchange in a given week, so we can see what kind of impact and how many mails would be affected by the change, so we can arrive at a sensible compromise value. The default output of the ExSPA almost gives us what we are after, but the Message Size ranges don't quite match up with what we need. Reading over the TechNet documentation of the profile analyzer tool it gives the impression that the values are configurable, but I can't for the life of me see where or how this can be done. I would appreciate if anyone could give me some guidance on how to change the bandings.By default the ranges are 0-2KB, 2-10KB, 10-100KB, 100-1024KB, 1024-5120KB and 5120+KB.We would like to change them to 0-10240KB, 10240-20480KB, 20480-30720KB, 30720-40960KB and so in in 10MB increments up to 100MB+.The Technet docs say this of the Message size collector: MessageSizeDistributionCounts messages in a size range. Takes a list of ranges. For example, "2,10,100,1024" would provide counts of messages from 0-2, 2-10, 10-100, 100-1024, and 1024-beyond.But as I mention above I can't see how a list of ranges can be provided.I would be very grateful for any advice anyone can give, and if it's not possible to use ExSPA for this if anyone has any recommendations of other tools (preferably freeware!) that could do the job then that would be great as well. Many thanks in advance,Matt
