I was getting the error code 9688 database approaching size limit of 18 gb on my exchange server. The KB said to make a couple of registry changes to up the limit and buffer waring percentage. So I upped the size to 25 with a 10% buffer waring for both the private and public db's. Then stopped and restarted the Store service. Now I get the 1216 event_id saying the same thing as the 9688 error. Indicating that there is still an 18 gb limit. What did I miss?? Thanks!

What exchange server r u usinge 2k3 or 2k7? and also mention SP's. -bpara

Thank you for both of your replies. This is a SBS 2003 sp2 running exchange.. the event_id now is 1216 the exact verabage is as follows. except I changed the store name to keep anninimity. The Exchange store 'First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (xSERVER)' is limited to 18 GB. The current physical size of this database (the .edb file and the .stm file) is 17 GB. If the physical size of this database minus its logical free space exceeds the limit of 18 GB, the database will be dismounted on a regular basis. Thanks again your help is very much appreciated. As I understand I have around 24 hours to correct this issue. Then email stops... so as you can understand its a big issuse to us. Thanks!

You are right about the event, it looks like if you could have missed something and the limit remains unchanged. Please go through the process again and make sure that it looks ok. Thank you all for the support. Again invaluable.. I found what the problem was.. most of the kb refers to updating the registry by adding a limit and warning buffer. Many of the kb articles had just a slight error in the syntax. Article 912375 had the correct syntax.. Its fixed! Thanks
