Exchange Server Error

Hi,I had an old Exchange Server 2010 that's Hard Drive crashed and nothing was recoverable. I got a new hard drive and tried to Install Exchange Server 2013 and it say this:

I have followed every website to try to do a Manuel  Uninstall but no luck still gives my this error?? I tried to remove it in the ADSI:

But this computer doesn't exist anywhere in the Active Directory, I can't seem to find any trace of it. If there is a simple solution to this please let me know ASAP.

Regards,

Zac

Hi,

you are looking into Default  naming context instead of Configuration partition for Services.

Edit ADSI and connect to configuration partition from the drop down, then navigate to CN=Services,.... you will find your exchange server information

Its not supported to remove an Exchange 2010 server using adsiedit. I would stop right there and do no further damage.

Instead, recover the old server using the supported method:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Dd876880(v=exchg.141).aspx

Then , if you decide to remove it, you can run Add/Remove Programs and uninstall gracefully.

Thanks, I'll Look into that. But the whole Hard Drive had no recoverable information on it (Good for the Trash). Even if I follow the steps from the website above (Recover a lost server section) on the new Hard Drive with the exact same install, would it still work.

As long as the server objects are in AD, yes.  The recoverserver option was designed for exactly the scenario you have.

I now get an Error when running the "setup /m:RecoverServer", about a HubTransport.

The Old Exchange Server's Hard Drive was running "Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard" and that is what I've installed on the new hard drive with the exact same install I used on the old HD.

I have also tried to go to Control Panel and Uninstall Hub Transport Role and get this error:

Can you post what the ExchangeSetup logs show for the error?

Please see the log at: http://pastebin.com/qAavXhTQ

It might be worth adding that I've got nothing in my Active Directory for Exchange Server, I delete it as per what a website told me.

Hi,

According to the error, please make sure there is no mailbox located in this mailbox database.

We can use Get-Mailbox -Database <name> | fl to check it.

If the commands above returns nothing, it is most likely Soft Deleted Mailboxes that are still present on this database.

Remove-StoreMailbox -Database <name> -Identity user1 -MailboxState SoftDeleted

More detailed information, please refer to these below links

Sorry I should of added these in the first place;

This isn't from my Server but the images will give an idea.

In the first Picture you can see the Folder called "Microsoft Exchange Security Groups" & "Microsoft Exchange Security Objects", they were both deleted

In picture 2 the highlighted objects we're deleted too

Zac

Ok, nothing should have been deleted from AD. You can try re-running setup/prepareAD and setup/preparedomain again, but Im not sure what other damage has been done. You may want to consider opening a case with Microsoft support.

Are these production mailboxes or were you just testing something? Either way, Exchange relies on those g
