Exchange Server 5.5 does not send messages in UNICODE encoding
Hi,
Our Exchange Server 5.5 does not sent messages in the UNICODE
(UTF-8) encoding.
We receive directly an undeliverable message: "The ...Conversion to
Internet format failed "
The error only comes when we answer or forward message,
that we received in the UNICODE coding..
Now we must after we receive the undeliverable message,
send the originally message again and before
Shipping to the encoding "Western European (ISO) switch.
For new messages, the encoding is in the Outlook 2000 Client
automatically set to "Western European (ISO)
The problem can be had by re-sending the message
deal, however, users are increasingly annoying.
How do I configure the ES55 or OL2000 that the answer or
Transmission of messages without manual conversion of UNICODE
Encoding sent?

Whenever you quote an NDR you should post the entire message. What service pack is installed on the Exchange 5.5 server? Is it the only server in your organization? Does any other server or firewall modify the SMTP
message?

The servicepack 4 is installed
this is the only ES5.5 in our organisation
There is no outbound Firewall or virusscan behind the smtp Port that modify the messages, only a FW, that checks the ports which open port 25 for the ES5.5.
But there is a fact, that maybee important to tell.
Because we have dynamic ip we dont send per DNS, but we send to a smarthost of our provider, which allow relaying.
Could the smarthost be the reason for the problem?

to check this I changed the setting from smarthost to DNS temporary, but I still have the same error.
