Exchange Server 2013 vs 2010 Certficate Based Authentication For ActiveSync?

There is zero Exchange Server 2013-specific documentation on how to set this up for Exchange Server 2013.

Microsoft has posted instructions only for Exchange Server 2010 in a 2012 blog posting.   The only reference to Exchange 2013 is a note on the top of the page that says: "Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 5 and later supports certificate-based authentication with ActiveSync."

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/11/28/configure-certificate-based-authentication-for-exchange-activesync.aspx

What are the differences in steps required to get this working for Exchange Server 2013 vs Exchange Server 2010?

We are planning to migrate from Exchange Server 2010 to 2013.  Is it better to get this configured in Exchange Server 2010 now and then migrate to 2013 or set up CBA for EAS for the first time during the Exchange Server 2013 deployment?

I was just wondering if I am not seeing where the instructions are "hidden" and not coming up in a web search.

It just seems so bizarre that Microsoft is choosing to not create any documentation for this function that I thought it might be possible that it exists somewhere online and I just didn't see it.  Sometimes there is some delay with documentation of new features, but the release for Exchange 2013 CU5 was May 2014. so it has become ridiculous at this point.

It was already a little strange that a feature like this took 5 rollups to be implemented, then they just add it to CU5 with no documentation.

Is certificate based authentication for Exchange being deprecated or something?  If so, what is the modern replacement?

Hi,

I have found no such official document to configure CBA for Exchange 2013.

But I searched the below article for your reference:

http://www.o-xchange.com/p/configure-exchange-certificate-based.html

Please note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. And the changes made in the above blog is not supported officially by Microsoft.

A third party unofficial blog is a poor solution, but unfortunately this is the best answer I see posted.
